"New Liberation" is a site-specific work specially created for the Stanza della Liberazione. This work is a new representation of the theme of “the Liberation”, already developed by the artist in the installation of the same name, which remained in situ from December 2016 to May 2021.
With its aerial shape and the lightness of its forms, it seems to allude to the moment of suspension that precedes the irruption of an immense happiness.
The happiness of having achieved the much-desired freedom that overshadows the memory of the blood shed.
The thin shapes hanging at their ends and intersecting with each other, become an image of joyfulness that explodes in the air.
They recall the beautiful historical photograph on the left wall of the Stanza, the arms raised in victory by men, women and children rejoicing at the end of the dictatorship and occupation, and the beginning of a new life.
The long, concave white shape, also suspended, seems to welcome the triumph of this rebirth while carrying the silent embroidery of the word Liberation engraved in its womb.
A gentle curve rises from above. Blocked by a pebble, it reaches the ground without seeking for a foothold but rather touching it like a caress, like a reminder of the collective struggle undertaken and the violence endured.
